Crunchy Baked Apple Chips Recipe

Crunchy baked apple chips

Snacks are convenient, aren’t they? These past two weeks, I’ve been snacking a bit more than I should. The pantry is stocked with everything, from bunny Grahams to sea salt popcorn, and visits to the kitchen have increased quite a lot. That’s why I started looking for some guilt-free options to snack on, and I’ve been making baked apple chips sprinkled with cinnamon. It sounds just as good as it tastes!

There’s no added sugar like most apple chips you’d buy in a store, which makes it a great, healthy snack option. Of course, you can add sugar If you like, but I find that apples are already sweet enough and they taste delicious just the way they are.

The trick here is to slice your apples quite thin. I’ve tried making baked apple chips a few times, and the thicker the slices are, the mushier they get. Since we’re going for crunchy, chips texture, mushy is not what we’re looking for.

After you slice your apples, line them on a parchment paper, then sprinkle only one side with cinnamon (and sugar if you’d like).

Then it’s time to bake! I usually bake them at 200 degrees Fahrenheit for about an hour to an hour and a half. Then I flip them over and bake for another hour. This usually gives me plenty of time to finish some stuff around the house, paint my nails, or even watch a movie.

After two and a half hours, I turn off the oven and let the apples sit there for another 30min to an hour. The longer they sit in the oven, the crunchier they get.

Although the baking part takes quite a while, the recipe itself takes 5min to make – slice the apples and sprinkle them with cinnamon. That’s’ it! The rest is just waiting.
