April’s reading list is going to be a bit different than the previous reading lists I’ve done on the blog. I’m going to focus on only one book. It’s very fitting because we’re going to talk about only one book and that book is The One Thing by Gary Keller. Get it? The one book is The One Thing. One of the best Gary Keller books currently available to read.
Gary Keller Books: The One Thing
Okay, so I’ve been meaning to read this book for a while now, and when I started it, the first thing I realized is how much I’ve missed reading non-fiction books. I’ve always felt that reading a non-fiction book is a great way to learn something new, get inspired, or get better at something.
The One Thing by Gary Keller is a short read, but it made me think about productivity and time-management. Okay, it also made me question my prioritization skills. I’ve always been very proud to say that I’m a good multitasker. But in recent years, my to-do list is getting longer and it’s becoming harder to manage. On top of that, I’m way more distracted, and I thought I need to find a better system to get it all done.
“Success demands singleness of purpose.”
– Vince Lombardi
After reading the book, I realize the problem might be the MULTITASKING. Instead of focusing on one thing, I’m trying to do a lot of less important tasks. At the end of the day, I’ve started many tasks but haven’t completed most of them. Not very productive, right?
The way to get more done is to do less. More specifically to focus on ONE THING at a time.
The book explains how to cut through all the distractions and focus on what matters in order to achieve your goals.
Lots of good points were made in The One Thing by Gary Keller’s book. I highly recommend it to anyone that feels like they have a lot to do, and they’re not accomplishing what they want. It’s that little push or motivation that we all need at times.
