What to Take to The Beach: Pool & Beach Necessities

Beach necessities for a fun summer day.

It’s summer and the summer in Athens has been quite hot. I can’t even imagine what the weather would be like in August. It’s so hot that I honestly don’t want to leave the house unless it’s 6 am or 7 pm. I prefer to stay in the comfort of the blasting AC.

And while I’m not a big fan of going to the beach, my kids are and because of that, we’ve been exploring the different beaches in the area. The beach is probably the best place to be when it’s that hot outside. That’s why I thought it will be a good idea to create what to take to the beach post, featuring all the beach necessities you need in your beach bag.

+ Swimsuit.

This year I’m really into scallop details when it comes to swimming suits. I think it adds a fun detail to even the most simple and boring style. Here are some of my picks:

+ Beach Towel.

I love a good beach towel and usually go for a solid or striped option but here are a few other options to consider when packing your beach necessities.

+ Sunscreen.

There is a very detailed post I recently wrote about sunscreens and more specifically sunscreens that won’t leave a white cast. I think the most frustrating thing is finding something that works well and doesn’t make you look like a ghost. Here is a link to the post and see some of my sunscreen favorites below:

+ Beach Reads.

Reading at the beach or at the pool is so relaxing. All of these books below are currently on my wishlist.

+ Hats.

When I think of what to take to the beach, one of my must beach necessities is definitely a hat. I personally think that sunscreen alone is not enough to protect me from the sun, so I always have a hat (or even two) to wear when going to the beach or the pool. I also love the visors that are so popular right now, I think they provide even better protection, so I’m including some below.

+ Water Bottle.

I love bringing my own reusable water bottle to stay hydrated while in the sun.

+ Snacks.

If I’m bringing snacks, I like to cut up some carrots, cucumbers, and broccoli. And also tons of fruits, like watermelon, grapes, peaches, berries. I usually prepare a few simple sandwiches, in case there is no place around to buy food from.

+ Floats.

We don’t really take floaties when we go to the beach, but I think they’re a must when you’re going to the pool.

+ Beach bag.

A beach bag that will fit all of your beach necessities and match your style.

+ Portable Speaker.

The perfect gadget for the pool or the beach.

Any other beach necessities that I should include in this list? DM me or leave a comment below.
