I don’t usually wear a lot of prints. In fact, this printed skirt is probably the only piece in my closet right now, that is not a solid color. It’s just that I can rarely find a print design that I like.
The thing is this skirt is not a new purchase. I’ve had it for about 2 years now. But I haven’t worn it for over a year. So it still feels pretty new to me.
I remember trying it on last year, about 3-4 months after I gave birth, and it didn’t fit. Well, it kind of did, but zipping it was quite challenging. During my pregnancy, I gained most of my weight in my stomach (duh!) and my hips, so when I tried it on, I had to wear it quite high in order to zip. Therefore, the length was a hair too short to wear outside, unless I plan on standing up like a statue, without moving at all. You know what I’m talking about, right? I honestly thought I would never be able to wear it again. And after leaving so many clothes behind during our move, I was strongly considering leaving this skirt.
I’m glad I didn’t do that.
The thing is when I commit to a purchase, I commit. What that means to me is that I don’t want to buy something, just so I can wear it once or twice. Instead, I try to buy clothes that I can use over and over again.
That’s how I feel about this printed skirt, I bought it because I wanted to wear it for more than one season. Otherwise, what a waste that would be! Well, the time has come! I can take this printed skirt out from the back of my closet and add it to my everyday pieces because it finally fits and the weather is skirt-friendly. Is there such a thing? :)
Since it’s still a bit chilly, I paired with a cozy sweater and a pair of white loafers.
