During the warmer months, I tend to make a lot more smoothies at home. They’re easy to prepare and so refreshing. Drinking smoothies is also a great way to satisfy your sweet tooth without being tempted to reach for anything in the pantry that is most likely made with processed sugar.
I’ve been tweaking this blueberry chia seed smoothie recipe for a while and I think it’s just perfect now.
You get potassium from the banana, coconut milk, and strawberries, which is great for your heart health and blood pressure. Then we also have the blueberries and chia seeds, which are full of anti-oxidants. I also add a scoop of collagen powder in my smoothie, however, I don’t add that to my kids’ smoothies. It’s up to you!
Lastly, I want to mention the kefir, which is so good for you. If you haven’t tried it or heard of it, kefir originated in Russia, so it’s used a lot in Eastern European countries. It has a tart, creamy flavor just like yogurt. Actually, it tastes very similar to yogurt but it has a lot more probiotics. It also improves stomach health, and it helps reduce blood sugar.
This blueberry chia smoothie recipe makes around two cups (it depends on the size of the cups) of smoothie, and as I mentioned above, I also add a scoop of collagen powder, which is great for the skin. It also prevents bone loss. You can read more about collagen powder and its benefits in this post.
