Are you wasting money on things you don’t really need? Or you are buying things that you don’t even use? But don’t we all?
Although I consider myself someone that thinks twice before purchasing anything, there are times when I will end up with an impulse buy. Sometimes it’s something that I know for a fact, I won’t use, but I want to have it. Weird, right? Other times I want something because I’m 100% sure I’m going to use but then it just so happens that I don’t. Looking at you, gym membership!
Okay, so a gym membership is one of those things. I knew I wouldn’t make it to the gym every day. So what I was aiming for was going to the gym three times a week. It seemed reasonable. And I did go three times a week for about 2-3 months; then I became lazy. And let’s be honest, I’ve never been a gym person. I’d much rather work out at home than go somewhere else. So that’s why I had to cancel my gym membership. The thing is I didn’t end it right away; I paid at least 4-5 extra months until I realized I’m not using it enough to keep it.
So there are a few other things I stopped wasting money on, and I’m going to share them here today.
6 THINGS TO STOP WASTING MONEY ON
-
Cable TV
I’m trying to remember when was the last time we had cable TV. It’s been at least four years. With so many other options out there, like Netflix, Hulu, and Amazon Prime, I feel like cable TV is quickly but surely going away. And it’s all about live streaming now.
-
Music
I love Spotify; you get to create a playlist with your favorite songs, play radios based on the artists you like. You don’t have to store a bunch of CDs in your house, and you have your music with you everywhere.
-
Bottled Water
Okay, I find buying bottled water simply unnecessary. I have a reusable water bottle at home, and I try to take it with me everywhere I go. Belle and Liam have theirs too. We always refill our bottles before we leave the house. Bottled water is simply bad for the environment.
You know when everyone opens a water bottle, and then no one remembers which bottle is theirs. You end up throwing away all the bottles so that you can have the same thing happen the following day. Such a waste! -
Makeup wipes
I haven’t purchased any makeup wipes in the past three years. I’ve been using oils to remove my makeup. If you haven’t tried it, you should. It does a way better job than any makeup wipe, I’ve ever tried.
-
Nails
I stopped getting my nails done at a salon. It felt like I’m wasting money on something I can do at home. I usually get a gel or regular nail polish, and I realized I’m perfectly capable of doing it all by myself. So I ended up ordering all the tools online, bought my nail polish colors and started doing my nails.
-
Eating out
We used to order food at least once a week and ate out 2-3 times per week. However, I’ve been working hard on cooking more at home and eating less out. The reason for that is not just about saving money, but many times the food we consume in a restaurant is full of unnecessary sodium and fat. Not very healthy!
Not wasting money on certain things, means having more money to spend on things that you actually need and want. Honestly, I’d much rather spend the money I will give at a nail salon for a facial or massage.
What about you? Are there things that you stopped spending money on?
