10 Amazing Ways to use Coconut Oil

I have been a coconut oil fan for quite some time now. First, I started using it in the kitchen by switching my usual olive oil or grapeseed oil with coconut oil. It was a change, but nowadays I prefer to use it in my beauty routine because it’s a great substitute for most moisturizers. Here are 10 ways to use coconut oil in your beauty routine.

Lip Balm

Oil from Coconut is a great moisturizer, and it works miracles on your chapped lips. I would recommend placing some in a small container and carrying it in your purse.

Body Scrub

I hope this one is a surprise to you, as it was to me. You can easily make a homemade coconut body scrub if you mix 1/2 cup of coconut oil and 1/2 cup of sugar.

Shaving Cream

Rub a small amount of coconut oil on your legs, then proceed with shaving. You’ll notice that it works just like your regular shaving cream.

Makeup Remover

Coconut oil is surprisingly good at removing makeup, including waterproof mascara. Use a cotton pad to apply it and gently remove the makeup from your face.

Moisturizer

Another great use is using it as a light moisturizer or body lotion. You can apply it directly on your dry skin, and you’ll notice that it sinks in quite quickly.

Massage Oil

Warm-up coconut oil in the microwave then add a few drops of lavender or tea tree oil and use as a massage oil.

Cuticle Softener

Another great use for this oil is using it as a cuticle softener. Apply it on your cuticles and leave for a couple of minutes to let the oil sink in.

 Anti-dandruff treatment

Massage coconut oil into the roots, add a couple of lemon drops and let it stay for one hour.

Highlighter

Apply it on your cheekbones, under your eyebrows and the top of your upper lip, all the places where the light will hit your skin. Apply it after makeup or after moisturizing your skin.

Anti-Frizz Solution

Yes!! A natural anti-frizz solution for your hair. It gives it a healthy shine and moisture. Rub coconut oil between your hands and apply on the frizzy parts of your hair. Don’t put too much, because this will make your hair oily and greasy.

Do you use coconut oil in your beauty routine?

I’m so glad you liked the post. :) You can use it so many ways and I personally love using it as a hair masque before shower. Just apply to your hair and let it sit there for 30-60min, it makes your hair really soft and shiny after.

I agree with all of these points… especially with coconut oil as an anti-dandruff treatment. After graduating from college, I was suffering a lot of dandruff (seriously, out of nowhere) and it took a couple of years for me to discover that coconut oil would do the trick.
