Today is my 30th birthday! Turning 30 years old doesn’t make me feel any different than before, but I have learned a lot, especially in the past decade. While there is so much more that I wish I had known before turning 30, I also realize that the way I see and look at things is different. That’s why in today’s post, I wanted to share 10 life lessons I learned by the age of 30.
1. Slow down.
Life goes by quickly, and while I have always tried to keep up with its pace, sometimes you have to slow down and don’t rush into things. Taking the time to look around and appreciate what you have is way more valuable to me today than before.
2. Take care of yourself.
We tend to take ourselves for granted, and one thing that I have learned is that to be the best version of myself, I need to take the time and take care of myself. A couple of years ago, I did the exact opposite, which didn’t do my family and me any good.
3. Start saving sooner.
Saving is essential, and before I had a family, I didn’t think about it as much as I should have. Now I’ve come to realize that saving is crucial. You work tirelessly to earn money to spend it on things you don’t need. Think about it! Do you want something or do you need it? Wouldn’t it be a lot better to put those extra dollars into your savings account and watch it grow?
4. Travel often.
I’ve always loved traveling, and I was lucky to marry a man that values traveling as much as I do. See the world, experience different cultures, and open your heart to all things new and exotic. We live in a big world, and there’s so much to see and encounter.

5. Tell the people you love that you care about them.
Make sure you appreciate the people around you. Don’t have high expectations for them. Accept them for who they are and tell them you love them as often as you can.
6. Be yourself.
We are all different, and instead of comparing yourself to other people, embrace yourself. That would make your life so much more fulfilling and rewarding.
7. Don’t be scared to fail!
Failing only means you were brave enough to try. If you didn’t succeed, don’t get discouraged, we all fail in certain areas of our lives. The life lesson we need to take from failing is to keep trying until we succeed.
8. Have a dream. Follow your dreams.
9. Never stop learning.
Take classes. Read. Attend workshops. To be excellent at what you want to do, you have to understand that there’s always room for growth and improvement.
10. Learn to let go.
This quote summarizes it all: “Incredible change happens in your life when you decide to take control of what you do have power over instead of craving control over what you don’t.”

Happy 30th birthday! I turn 22 in two days so I feel like it’s the birthday season.
I think the biggest things I’ve taken from this post is to slow down and appreciate everything more, but also to travel more often. I really do agree that there’s so much to see in this world, it’s almost like there’s not enough time to see everything.
