My Favorite Editing Apps I Use Daily

June 25, 2018

In today’s post, I’m sharing my favorite editing apps. These are the apps that I use daily when I’m editing my pictures and I’m away from my computer.

Do you load your pictures into an editing app before posting them online? I do. There is always something that you can fix in an image to make it look better. Either your face came out too dark or there is a piece of trash on the floor you didn’t see when you took the picture. Or maybe you just want to have a cohesive feed and apply your favorite filter.

MY FAVORITE EDITING APPS

  • VSCO – I use VSCO for pretty much every picture I post. They have a variety of pre-made filters you can choose from and all of them are designed after film photography, which I think it’s really pretty. You can add more grain or adjust the exposure, brightness, saturation. Therefore you are not limited to using only the filters but you can modify your image any way you like.
TIP: Stick to one filter to create a cohesive feed on your Instagram. I like A6, but I usually play around with it, because every picture is different.
  • FACETUNE – If you need to smooth out your skin or remove a blemish, Facetune is the app for that. It’s easy to overdo it with this app, so make sure you always check the before image. Don’t make your face look unrealistic! Shadows are there for a reason!
TIP: The main reason I use this app is to brighten up the backgrounds in my photos. I don’t like yellow in my whites, so I use the whiten tool to make the whites pop and remove the brassiness.
  • RETOUCH – Have you ever taken the perfect picture and you are about to post it when you notice a piece of trash on the floor behind you? This drives me insane. I use Retouch to remove little things like that, you just brush it over and it’s gone. It doesn’t always work perfectly, but it does a pretty good job.
  • SNAPSEED – Probably my favorite app. You can adjust your image overall by going to Tools and then Tune Image. It’s super easy to play with the sliders for Brightness, Contrast, Highlights, Shadows, and Warmth. You can also adjust the White Balance of your photo.
TIP: Use the Selective tool to brighten or darken only certain parts of an image. For example, if your face is a bit dark, add a point by clicking on your face and then slide your finger, left or right, to lighten it.
  • DARKROOM – I use Darkroom whenever I want to remove certain colors from my images. For example, yellow! I told you I don’t like yellow in my whites.
TIP: You can also give yourself a little tan by bumping the saturation of the orange tones in your image.
  • COLOR STORY – This is a really fun app,  especially if you love a little more color in your photos. They constantly come out with new filters that you can purchase, or you can use the ones that come with the app.

So these are my favorite editing apps but I’m always on the look for a new app that is efficient and makes things easier. Do you have a favorite editing app? Tell me.
