I hope it’s warm where you are. It’s freezing here in the Netherlands, and as you may know already if you’re following me on Instagram, I’m fighting a cold. Actually, my daughter and I are both sick. Let me tell you, being pregnant and ill is no fun. The winter this year is no joke, it feels way colder than last year.
So today I wanted to share a few tips on how to stay warm on a cold day. Since we have a lot of those here, I thought it might be helpful for those of you that are experiencing the same weather conditions.

HOW TO STAY WARM ON A COLD DAY:
-
Wear tights.
I’m one of those people that don’t mind tights. But I know there are many that just can’t stand them. Anywho, if you want to wear a skirt or dress in the winter, tights are a must.
-
Layer Up.
Wearing a few layers under your coat will keep your body warm. Although wearing too many thick layers will feel uncomfortable, it is a good idea to do a mix of thin and thick layers. Here is what I mean, wear a thin camisole as your first layer, white button down as your second layer and a warm sweater or cardigan as your third layer. This is a good combination between thin and thick layers.
-
Buy a warm coat.
Last but not least, the coat. Wearing a warm coat on top of your clothes is the most obvious step in keeping you warm on a cold day. I prefer hooded coats this way I don’t need to worry about bringing a beanie with me.
-
Thermals.
Have you tried wearing thermals? I just got a merino wool thermal and I have no idea how I made it through cold weather without a thermal shirt before.
How do you stay warm in the winter? I would like to hear your tips for staying warm during those cold winter days.

Thank you so much!
You look so warm! That coat is gorgeous
Thank you :)
I also love to layer because I can’t stand big bulky coats. Like the one you have is amazing. Mine is a short wool jacket that ties shut and I usually wear it over a short sleeve shirt and sweater wrap. I’m also really into these fleece-lined leggings that my husband bought me for Christmas. They’re warm enough to wear under a dress or tunic, but also thin enough to layer underneath my dress pants or denim when it’s extra-extra cold out! Do you wear socks with your Hunter boots? I couldn’t afford Hunter this year, but I got some nice Sperry rain boots instead. :)
I love a good pair of warm leggings in the winter :) & yes, I do wear some thick socks under my Hunter boots, otherwise it’s just too cold. Enjoy your Sperry! I love their boots :)
