Okay, let’s talk about wellness. More specifically, let’s talk about how to dry brush and why you should be doing it.
Dry brushing has been around for such a long time. However, it has become quite popular in the past 3 years. It’s a big trend these days. But really, dry brushing is something people have been doing for years.
It exfoliates and massages the skin while getting rid of all those dead cells. And it leaves you with smooth and soft skin. So don’t be surprised if you get addicted to dry brushing once you see the results.
WHAT IS DRY BRUSHING?
Dry brushing is brushing the skin in a circular motion, usually before you get in the shower. It stimulates the lymphatic system and energizes you. That’s why many people prefer to do it in the morning. Is there a better way to start the day?
CHOOSING A BRUSH FOR DRY BRUSHING YOUR SKIN:
It’s best to choose a brush with natural, not synthetic bristles. Stiff and hard bristles are going to do a better job of exfoliating your skin. Although I wouldn’t recommend that if your skin is sensitive and you just started dry brushing. In that case, you might want to start with a softer bristle brush.
BENEFITS OF DRY BRUSHING:
- Increases skin circulation.
- Reduces the appearance of cellulite.
- Removes dead cells from the skin and stimulates new cell renewal!
- Strengthens the immune system.
- Increases blood circulation and releases toxins from your body.
- Detoxifies the lymphatic system.
HOW TO DRY BRUSH YOUR SKIN:
- Start before you shower on dry skin.
- Begin at the ankles in circular, upwards motion towards the heart. Always brush towards the heart! Then move to the stomach, arms, and shoulders.
- When brushing your back, go from the neck towards your lower back.
- Dry brush between 3 to 5 minutes.
- Avoid sensitive areas, such as burns, sores, or dry patches of eczema.
- Shower right after dry brushing to wash away all the dead skin cells.
If you dry brush daily, it is best to clean your body brush at least once a week.
You can also dry brush your face, but be extra gentle and choose a smaller brush.

Wow, I’d never heard of this, but I think I have a brush that came in a spa basket that someone gifted to me. I’m definitely going to try it now! Thanks for the info!
It’s amazing! You’re going to love it.
Thanks for breaking this down! I’ve seen those brushes before but had no idea of all the benefits. Exfoliating in this cold weather sounds especially great!
